And there are things I know I don’t know. And then there are things I should not attempt to know…..like FTP and blog programing stuff!!!!! I was trying to improve my blog today by setting up a new and better layout, and in the process completely screwed up my website. So, the site is down for now while I wait (quite impatiently) for the programmers to fix what I broke. Thankfully, it’s just a deleted index file, but I’ve decided not to even ATTEMPT to fix it. I promise to stay away for now. My site should be back up tomorrow. I think. I hope.

SOooooooo…a couple of new things. This weekend I attended my first fundraiser for Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (www.ohsu.edu/health/clinics-and-services/doernbecher/). The event was a silent auction, gift basket sale, raffle and brunch. There were 300+ women in attendance plus my husband and 3 other  males. (My husband said he didn’t mind being in the minority) My good friend and personal trainer, Connie (who STILL does not have a blog!!!!!!) was a volunteer, and I donated a free family session plus some prints as part of the silent auction. I had never been to an event like this before and had no idea how it all worked. Next year I’ll be more prepared because there were so many great gift baskets, but they were snatched up by a huge mob of excited women within, like, 10 minutes.

The raffle was for a 26″ flat screen HD LCD TV. Now, let me just say, that we are not a TV watching family. Our TV is on maybe 1 hour per day. Some days – it’s not on at all. Like right now, as I type – No TV. However, I do love me some movies. So, about a year ago I upgraded our sad little TV to a nice big plasma with HD and all that other technical crap that I still don’t really understand, but the guy at the store said it was all very important. We had only ONE TV in our house for the last 13 years. Now we have two – and feel quite up-to-date. OK, back to the raffle. So, I decided to buy 5 raffle tickets from Connie. I had a good feeling. In fact, I had such a good feeling about those tickets that I turned to my husband and said – we are going to win the TV. In fact, I had such a good feeling that I bragged to the ENTIRE table of women that it was I who would be bringing the LCD home. Another girl at our table said that it was SHE who was feeling the raffle gods smiling down on her. I assured her that she was just getting a little bit of “proximity vibe’ from Moi. I kid you not, I really knew that this TV was to be mine. I don’t know how, I don’t know why. I just KNEW. My husband reminded me that we never win anything – and I said to him “not this time baby!” As the host drew the winning ticket I grabbed my 5 little lucky stubs and listened intently as he read off the numbers; “3 -6-6-1-2…..” I was thinking at this point – oh no! only the last two tickets of my 5 start with a 2! And then the last two ” 9…..8!!!!” My very last ticket: number 3661298!!! I let out a little yell and everyone at my table looked at me in total mock disbelief – because of course they thought that the boastful girl was surly kidding. But mock disbelief turned to actual disbelief when they realized I had in-fact, WON the tv. No one was quite as shocked as my husband. He still keeps walking around the house saying “that was soooo weird…” Yeah, whatever. It was FATE!! FATE I tell you!!!! Ok, it was just luck, but it was still exciting and such a nice surprise.

Now we have to decide where to put it. I’m thinking it would be nice to have in the bedroom. The kids think it would be a nice replacement for the one in the play room. So, it’s still in the box, waiting for a home. My six year old had very strong opinions about having it in the playroom, so here he is posing next to it (notice the HELLO LADIES tee. This is his FAVORITE tee shirt.) Anyway, I decided to keep those winning tickets, and put them in the little dish next to my sink in the bathroom. Now I see them every morning and remember my good luck, or fate or whatever you want to call it. But it makes me feel good either way.

Tomorrow I will be blogging about my favorite images from the last year. That is, if my site is up again. If it’s not, then I will be frantically working on that. Let’s hope not.

Love and blessings,
Leah

Back at it!

March 11, 2009

flyerI know I’ve been gone for a while, but seriously I had to take some time to mourn my deleted blog first. Now that I’ve gotten over it, I’m ready to move on with my new WordPress blog. The format and look of this site will be changing a lot over the next two months, but for now I wanted to post something new and talk about everything that’s been happening over at Leah Harb Photography as of late. February and March have been busy and filled with interesting new projects! First and foremost I want to talk about my new venture: BARE by leah harb. This is the new home for my boudoir photography – and I’m so excited about it – I could just scream. In fact, I did! I did my first “hotel” shoot at at the end of January at the Hotel Monaco. It was a BLAST! I loved every second of shooting it and I think the girls all had a great time. The Hotel suites are divided into two rooms- the bedroom where we do the shooting, and the living room, where my clients are fed champagne and cupcakes from Saint Cupcake (www.saintcupcake.com). Music plays, girls drink and get their make-up done, primp and relax before their session. There is a major “girl power” feeling happening in the suite. The comments from the participants were so positive – everyone felt beautiful and relaxed. This is a perfect opportunity to get a couple (or a few!) of your friends together and have a little party while looking beautiful and feeling sexy!  The next session is tentatively set for March 27th and 28th at the Hotel Monaco in Portland. Email me to book your session and I will send you an information packet that explains how it all works! I’m posting some images of the last session for you to enjoy. I was so lucky to have this group of girls who were beautiful and sweet – and ohhhh so sexy!

Hello world!

blogHey there blog readers! guess what? I’m soooooooo lame that I accidentally deleted my old blog. Yup. Deleted. So, I’m in the process of building a new one. But, it’s not going to be done for a while. I’ll be in Las Vegas for WPPI starting on the 14th and when I get back I’ll be sure to be back in the blogesphere.

Until then – enjoy my website: http://www.leahharb.com
